«Säntis Goofe» für die nächste Generation
The children's club ‘Säntis Goofe’ is for the next generation of nature lovers, little adventurers and great explorers. Here, children learn about the mountain world with all their senses. Together, we want to teach children values that bring people together: mindfulness towards nature, respect for the mountains and the joy of discovering new things. Because those who learn early on how precious our environment is will carry this attitude into the future. The Säntis thus becomes a place of learning, an adventure playground and a source of inspiration for fun and games.
Gemeinsam aktiv, Bewegung verbindet
Gemeinsam aktiv für Gesundheit, Gemeinschaft und Natur. Ob bei Bike to Work, Wanderungen, gemeinsamen Bergläufen oder Team-Events, wir fördern Aktivitäten, die Bewegung, Teamgeist und Zusammenhalt verbinden. Jeder Schritt, jeder Tritt in die Pedale, jeder gemeinsame Moment zeigt, was man miteinander erlebt, verbindet.

Culture and customs firmly established
Our home is located in the midst of a unique cultural landscape, where the Toggenburg, Appenzell and Lake Constance regions meet. The culture and customs of this region shape us and are part of our values.
Im Sommer, wenn beim „Öberefahre“ Mensch und Tier die Schwägalp wieder beleben, wenn Trachtenanlässe, Volksmusik und fröhliche Klänge das Appenzeller Sonntagsbuffet begleiten oder der traditionelle Sennenball auf der Passhöhe gefeiert wird, dann zeigt sich die Vielfalt unserer Heimat.
Im Winter wiederum erfreut uns das „Zäuerli“ der Silvesterkläuse und lässt das neue Jahr auf ganz besondere Weise erklingen. Eine Tradition, die wir mit Freude zelebrieren.

For us, sustainability also means acting in an economically sustainable manner. To this end, we invest for the long term, favour regional suppliers and focus on quality rather than short-term gains.

Regionality you can taste
Each product tells its own story of home, quality and appreciation for the region and the people behind it. Because true regionality begins on your own doorstep. We attach great importance to short supply chains, fresh ingredients and maintain close partnerships with producers from the region.
Wherever possible, we choose regional alternatives. For example, we deliberately avoid serving orange juice at our breakfast buffet, opting instead for apple, quince or blackcurrant juice from the local area.
Creative approaches to combating food waste
In our kitchen, we make sure to use raw ingredients in their entirety and process them further wherever possible. This means that an unsold nut croissant does not become waste, but rather a delicious brownie. This is just one small example of how we keep food in circulation and actively avoid food waste. We think consciously, plan carefully and rely on creative solutions to minimise food waste. Because sustainability doesn't just start with shopping, but in our daily handling of what nature gives us.

In close partnership with the four cable car companies in the Appenzell region, we maintain regular contact in order to learn from each other, exploit synergies and work together to bring the mountains to life for visitors and locals alike.
This friendly dialogue not only strengthens cooperation, but also regional solidarity. Topics such as sustainability, security, innovation and tourism development are considered jointly. With a clear goal of strengthening the mountain region in the long term and developing it responsibly.

The Säntis is part of a unique mountain world that we want to preserve. That is why we are committed to the responsible use of energy, water and materials, promote renewable energies, reduce waste and ensure that our facilities and services are designed to conserve resources. Our goal is always to preserve this unique natural environment with its flora and fauna for present and future generations.
Intelligent heating and ventilation system
Heat recovery, intelligent control systems and optimised air circulation specifically reduce energy consumption without compromising on comfort or a pleasant indoor climate. Heat is used where it is needed and reused where it is generated. A cycle that saves energy and protects the environment. This ensures that Säntis will remain a place where technology and nature are in balance, both now and in the future.
A tree for the climate
Gäste, die bei einem Aufenthalt von zwei Nächten auf die Zimmerreinigung verzichten, helfen, Wasser, Energie und Reinigungsmittel zu sparen und erhalten dafür ein ganz besonderes Dankeschön: eine kleine Fichte zum Einpflanzen.
Diese junge Pflanze steht symbolisch für Wachstum, Achtsamkeit und Verantwortung. Sie wächst der Umgang mit unseren Ressourcen in der Erde, in der Region und im Bewusstsein sorgsame weiter.
NatureDiscovery Park Schwägalp-Säntis
The NaturErlebnispark association is committed to preserving the cultural landscape around Schwägalp: moors, biotopes and sensitive habitats are protected, as is biodiversity. This creates sustainable, attractive tourism that takes into account the plants and wildlife that are tied to their habitat.
Since 1 October 2024, Simon Meier has been working as a ranger for the Schwägalp-Säntis Nature Discovery Park on the Schwägalp. At least three times a week, he goes on patrols at different times of the day and night and keeps a record of any damage or changes in nature. This is a conscious decision to protect and preserve our natural environment.

Als Teil des Nachhaltigkeitsprogramms Swisstainable sind wir auf Level III – leading eingestuft. Das Nachhaltigkeitsprogramm Swisstainable vereint Betriebe und Organisationen entlang des gesamten Schweizer Tourismussektors. Mit unserer Teilnahme verpflichten wir uns zu einer kontinuierlichen nachhaltigen Unternehmensentwicklung, verfolgen Massnahmen im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit und leisten somit einen konkreten Beitrag für einen nachhaltigen Schweizer Tourismus.
