Resettlement of alpine ibexes
At the end of the 19th century the ibex was exterminated in the area of Mount Säntis. In 1957 they were resettled. Seven were released in the area Gloggeren and six more on the Wildhauser Schafboden. In 1976 the colony already exceeded 100 animals and in 1994 it comprised almost 190. Nowadays, ibexes are a landmark of the Säntis.
