The first railway projects
Säntis was the subject of many projects. In 1903 the concession for a rack railway was granted that planned a route from Appenzell to Wasserauen, Meglisalp and Säntis. But after completing the railway line from Appenzell to Wasserauen, the initiators ran out of money and the concession expired.
