After dark, the romantic Laternliweg trail opens on the Schwägalp. Bathed in the soft glow of countless lanterns, the groomed trail winds through the snow-covered Weidwald forest, creating a special evening atmosphere.
This winter stroll pairs perfectly with a delicious fondue at the Passhöhe inn or the “Säntis – das Hotel” restaurant.
Hours of Operation
The Laternliweg is illuminated from November 26, 2026, through February 27, 2027, Thursday through Saturday, starting at 4:00 p.m.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the illuminated Laternliweg extends all the way to the Passhöhe Inn.
Please note: In gusty or stormy weather, the Laternliweg remains unlit for safety reasons.

Important Information
– Due to the risk of slippery conditions, sledding is prohibited on the Laternliweg.
– Despite grooming, slippery spots are possible. We recommend sturdy footwear with treaded soles.
– Dogs must be kept on a leash.
– In gusty or stormy weather, the Laternliweg is not illuminated.
