Romantic winter walk in the soft glow of lantern light
After dark, the romantic latern trail opens. Bathed in the soft glow of countless lanterns, the groomed trail leads through the snow-covered Weidwald forest, creating a special evening atmosphere. This winter walk can be ideally combined with a delicious fondue at the Passhöhe inn or the Schwägalp restaurant.
Due to the risk of slipping on the latern trail, we kindly ask you to refrain from sledging!
Opening hours
The path is illuminated from 25 November 2026 to 27 February 2027, Thursday to Saturday, from 4 p.m.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the illuminated lantern path leads to the Passhöhe restaurant.
*Please note: the lantern path is not illuminated in stormy weather!
Important information
- Due to the risk of slipping, sledging is prohibited on the path.
- Despite preparation, slippery spots are possible, which is why we recommend good footwear with treaded soles.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash.
- The lantern path is not illuminated in gusty, stormy weather.
Lantern bar
Warm up with a hot drink in the lantern bar. The lantern bar is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also offers small snacks.
Tip
Combine your romantic walk with a delicious fondue at the ‘Säntis – das Hotel’ or the Gasthaus Passhöhe.

A visit to the Laternlibar or a traditional fondue rounds off your group experience. The Gasthaus Passhöhe can accommodate up to 75 people, but we are happy to welcome larger groups at the Säntis – das Hotel restaurant.
